Overview
The U.S. Embassy in Bridgetown is the U.S. diplomatic mission to Barbados and six other Eastern Caribbean nations: Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. It also provides consular services to U.S. citizens in the British Overseas Territory of Anguilla. As the regional post for the Eastern Caribbean, it handles all visa processing, American Citizen Services, trade, and cultural programmes for the area.
Visa Services
The embassy is the primary visa processing post for the entire region it covers. It handles a high volume of nonimmigrant visas for tourism, seasonal work (H-2B), and education, as well as all immigrant visas.
Consular Services
The American Citizen Services (ACS) unit provides services to U.S. citizens across the seven sovereign nations and the British Overseas Territory of Anguilla, including passport renewals, reports of birth abroad, notarial services, and emergency assistance. U.S. citizens in Anguilla should contact the embassy at BridgetownACS@state.gov or +(246) 227-4000 for consular support. The embassy maintains consular agents on some of the other Eastern Caribbean islands to provide localized assistance.
Trade & Export Support
The U.S. Commercial Service supports American companies seeking to do business across the Eastern Caribbean, with a focus on the tourism, renewable energy, and construction sectors.
Investment Opportunities
The embassy promotes U.S. investment in the region's tourism and renewable energy sectors and encourages Caribbean investment in the U.S. through the SelectUSA program.
Business Support
The Economic Section covers the economies of all seven countries, advocating for U.S. business interests and working on issues like financial transparency and disaster resilience.
Cultural & Educational Programs
The Public Affairs section manages a range of programmes across the Eastern Caribbean to promote U.S. culture and educational opportunities.
Appointment Information
Appointments are mandatory for all consular services and must be scheduled online. Applicants from neighbouring islands must travel to Barbados for visa interviews.
