Decisions issue from UK Visas and Immigration. The flow is moderate but the Skilled Worker route runs steadily into UK oil-and-gas companies whose Kazakh operations at Kashagan, Tengiz and Karachaganak generate significant cross-border movement. The British Embassy in Astana, at 62 Kosmonavtov Street on the 6th floor of the Renco Building, supports that visa work and serves the substantial British professional community resident in the Kazakh oil and gas sector. British leisure travel to Kazakhstan is growing — Almaty's ski resorts in the Tien Shan, the Silk Road heritage cities (Turkistan, Sayram, Otrar), the Charyn Canyon and the alpine lakes around Saty are the main draws.
