Overview
The British Embassy in Reykjavik is the United Kingdom's diplomatic mission in Iceland, headed by Ambassador Her Excellency Bryony Mathew. The embassy shares Laufásvegur 31 with the German Embassy in the centre of Reykjavik. The UK and Iceland are NATO allies with a bilateral relationship rooted in North Atlantic geography, shared fisheries interests (including the historically significant Cod Wars, long since resolved), Arctic cooperation, and a rapidly growing tourism connection. The UK is one of the largest source markets for visitors to Iceland — budget airlines and Icelandair connect multiple British cities to Keflavik year-round, and Iceland has become one of the most popular short-haul adventure destinations for British travellers.
Consular Services
The embassy provides consular assistance to British nationals in Iceland, including emergency travel documents, support in cases of arrest or hospitalisation, and guidance for the large number of British tourists visiting the country. Trade & Export Support
The UK and Iceland maintain trade ties particularly in seafood, renewable energy, financial services, and tourism. Post-Brexit trade between Iceland and the UK is governed by the EFTA-UK trade agreement.
Cultural & Educational Programs
The embassy supports cultural and educational ties between the UK and Iceland. British universities attract Icelandic students, particularly in the sciences and humanities, and the shared Norse heritage of northern Scotland, Orkney, and Shetland with Iceland creates historical and cultural connections that both countries maintain.

The embassy covers the entire Republic of Iceland. There are no British honorary consulates outside Reykjavik — the embassy handles all consular matters for the whole country.
