Swiss Embassy in Sarajevo

Embassy of Switzerland in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

Overview

The Swiss Embassy at Zmaja od Bosne 11 (RBBH building, object B) in Sarajevo manages Switzerland's bilateral relationship with Bosnia and Herzegovina. Ambassador Gabriele Derighetti (since 2024), an ETHZ-trained forestry engineer from Ticino, leads the mission. Switzerland has been a committed partner since recognising Bosnia-Herzegovina's independence in 1992 and opening the embassy in 1995 — providing over CHF 600 million in development cooperation over 25 years. The embassy focuses on four pillars: democratic governance, economic development, health, and migration. Civil status matters are handled locally; most other consular services (visas, passports, registrations) are processed by the Regional Consular Center at the Swiss Embassy in Vienna.
