Overview
The Embassy of Peru in the United States is the principal diplomatic representation of Peru in the world's leading power, and the political seat of the most operationally important bilateral work of the Peruvian Foreign Service. The United States is one of Peru's main trading partners under the Trade Promotion Agreement signed in 2009, the destination of one of the largest Peruvian communities abroad, and a central counterpart in Pacific multilateral fora (APEC). The Embassy coordinates the Peruvian consular network across the US, which includes Consulates-General in Washington DC, New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago, Houston, San Francisco, Atlanta, Boston, Dallas and Denver.
Visa Services
The Embassy and the Consulates-General process visa applications for US citizens travelling to Peru — tourism, business, investment and other categories. Detailed requirements are published on the Embassy's portal.
Consular Services
Consular services for Peruvian citizens — passports, DNI national IDs, civil registration, notarial services and emergencies — are handled by the Consulate-General of Peru in Washington DC, located at 1225 23rd Street NW, in a separate facility from the Embassy itself.
Trade & Export Support
The Peruvian commercial office (OCEX) and PromPerú work closely with the Embassy in Washington to promote bilateral trade and tourism. The Peru-US Trade Promotion Agreement structures much of the commercial flow — minerals, agricultural products (asparagus, avocados, blueberries, coffee), textiles and manufactures.
Cultural & Educational Programs
The Embassy supports the Peruvian cultural presence in the United States through educational programmes, academic exchanges and the network of Peruvian-American community organisations.
