Overview
The Permanent Mission of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana to the United Nations represents Guyana at the UN General Assembly and across UN agencies. Guyana, as a CARICOM member and one of the founding members of the Group of 77, is active in multilateral diplomacy on climate change, sustainable development, and small-state sovereignty. The country's Amazon rainforest — covering over 80% of its territory — positions Guyana as a key voice in global climate and biodiversity negotiations. The mission also coordinates with the International Court of Justice regarding the longstanding territorial dispute with Venezuela over the Essequibo region.Read moreRead less
