Guatemalan Embassy in Mexico City

Embassy of Guatemala in Ciudad de México, Mexico

Overview

Guatemala's embassy in Mexico City operates from Lomas de Chapultepec, one of the capital's most exclusive neighborhoods. Mexico is Guatemala's most important neighbor — the two countries share a 958-kilometer border, deep cultural ties rooted in shared Maya heritage, and massive bilateral trade as Guatemala's largest trading partner. The embassy handles an enormous volume of consular work driven by the large Guatemalan migrant and diaspora population in Mexico, many in transit toward the United States. Mexico-Guatemala cooperation spans border security, migration management, trade facilitation under the Mesoamerican Integration and Development Project, and shared archaeological heritage including cross-border Maya sites.

Service Area

Consular jurisdiction: Mexico City, Morelos, Tlaxcala, Hidalgo, Estado de Mexico, Michoacan, and Colima. Guatemala also maintains consulates in other Mexican states to serve the broader diaspora.
